You might probably get a bit a of a chill when you are walking in the middle of the night, wandering in the park, then suddenly hearing a flapping sound o wings flying over your head, feels like its watching you, waiting to strike.  A black figured creature feared by many, then you suddenly can't contemplate whether to run of just let the goose bumps pass.  Questions boggling your mind, "what is that thing?", "am I about to face my end?"

Now let's not scare ourselves further, it's just a bat for crying out loud and I'm just giving you a little bit of scene from a horror movie thing, so don't be so carried away  when you see a bat flying around you, besides it can't even see you, they are blind. Centuries past and bats are being associated to another myth that is Count Dracula, the blood sucking guy.  But as the new century unfolds, this mysterious animal has been appreciated more by many, because of its uniqueness. Bats or scientifically identified as (Chiroptera) has over 900 species all over the world and it makes it at 20% of the mammal species, yes it's a mammal, throw away your notions that its a bird nor a monster of the dark.  

 Bats are not really after the human blood, although some bats are really blood suckers, they are the vampire bats, but they feed on other animals blood and the special teeth makes a clean painless incision.  There still some rare instances that vampire bats attacks human, but you can't really call it an attack, they just need to feed not kill you or turn you to something like their own. 

 So, enough of that scary thoughts.  Lets talk about the common bats that we can see from farms, barns or even in the house attic. These bats feeds mostly on insect, rats and fruits.  There are benefits of having a bat in the household as a guest and there is also a negative side of it as well.  The good news is bats can be kept in your attic for a good reason one of them in fact is keeping insects away.  Bats are like natural insect killers, they can consume as much as 1,200 mosquitoes in an hour.  Other benefits can be more to nature and your garden.  Most common bats eat fruits from your garden fruit plants and even helping in the pollination process because some bats drink from the flower nectar too. After they eat the flesh of the fruit, the seeds are being scattered to the ground too, making them a natural fruit and flower framers.  So some folks are trying to keep them either in the attic or in the bar, but if there's no room for them, there is what we call bat houses that you can construct and hang it somewhere out of reach, you can also buy those ready made one that can also be purchased online.

 On the other hand bats in house could also bring harm.  Some of them carry's diseases and viruses carried over from another host.  These cases are relative to vampire bats since they feed on others animals blood, they may catch the diseases with them as they consume on their blood and pass it over to another prey that could be your domestic animal, your cow, horse, chicken or even on your chihuahua.  Such viruses could then be transferred over to humans.  Worse come to worst the bat might accidentally mistaken you for another animal and bite you off to feed, and you may catch the disease yourself directly.

Bats are mammals that are active during night. They have webbed wings and they can adapt to flight. These are the only mammals that can fly. Other mammals that are said to fly in fact glide only to small distances. People are afraid of them due to their appearance. They are able to suck blood. Their targets are human beings also. When a person is asleep, his blood is sucked by the bats in such a way that there is no felling of it or any sensation related to it. These mammals are said to be the carriers of rabies. Bats in house are not a big threat. It is a passerby and one should not worry too much if there are bats in his residence. These mammals are not active during the day time and prefer to enter the house during night. They see and communicate with the help of ultraviolet light that is there during the night. They hear with the help of producing the echoes of ultrasonic waves. There are some professional vampires who like to keep bats in house for enjoyment and to tag themselves as vampires. It is the responsibly of a member of a house to get rid of the bats and see that full safety is provided to the escape of the bats from the house.

If it happens that in case a person of your family has come head on with the animal then you should not let the bat escape from the house. Instead, you should capture the bat and then get it tested for the rabies or give it to the officials of the Government for the testing and wait for the reports to come. It is not always possible that a bat may enter the house of yours. If a bat comes in your house ten you should not allow the children to be near it as it can bite them and they may become diseased. If you see that the bat is not flying then the possible reason may be that it is sick. Do not kill it. If a bat has entered your lawn but has not entered your rooms then the best thing is to let all the lights of the rooms switched on so that a bat cannot seek entrance into the rooms.
